Mental Health in the Workplace

Looking after our people and creating a open and honest culture.

At Covéa Insurance we want to help break the silence and end the stigma around mental health in the workplace.

As part of the Diversity & Inclusion programme, we have established a mental health work stream. It’s called Covéa Minds. Covéa Minds aims to create a culture at work where people can be open and honest about where they are in life and where to go to get support if they need it. We want to raise awareness of mental health at work, giving it the same importance as our physical health and making it the norm to talk about it.

That’s why we have signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge. This is a commitment to changing the way we think and act about mental health at every level of the organisation. Our Executive sponsor, Simon Cooter, signed the pledge during Mental Health Awareness Week 2018 and committed us to following through on the Mental Health Action Plan we have developed.

Time to Change is England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination and is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.

Modern Insurance Magazine spoke to our People Director (Director of HR & Learning at the time), Lisa Meigh, about how we are tackling mental health in our Diversity & Inclusion strategy.

We also have talks and workshops given by founder of Andy's Man Club, Luke Ambler. Luke’s talks are honest, eye opening and extremely thought provoking. He’s open to the fact that what he talks about might not affect every single person, but if it helps at least one person then he’s done his job.
