Charity Trekkers ‘peak’ early raising over £85,000 for Insurance United Against Dementia

11th September 2018

Covéa Insurance is delighted to announce that the InsureTrek18 fundraising expedition has hit its extended £85,000 target a week ahead of the intrepid trekkers starting their mountain adventure.

The InsureTrek18 expedition, 16th-19th September 2018, will see a team of 25 individuals complete a physically demanding trek circling the highest mountain in Western Europe, Mont Blanc, to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society as part of the Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) initiative.

Simon Cooter of Covéa Insurance has convinced colleagues and friends from across the insurance industry to take part. Many have been motivated to get involved because of their personal experience of loved ones who have suffered the cruel and indiscriminate consequences of this disease. Several have shared their own stories too.

Thanking everyone who has contributed to date, Simon Cooter said:

“Support from colleagues at Covéa and across the insurance industry has been amazing and has enabled us to reach the initial milestone of £75,000 and surpass it. On behalf of the whole InsureTrek18 team I just want to say a huge thank you. All of the proceeds will go towards funding research into treatments for dementia, in all its forms. Our just giving page is still open and we are still welcoming donations because every pound really does matter in the fight against this terrible disease.”

The team are now completing their training and limbering up for the trek which departs on 16th September.
