Covéa Insurance announce new Commercial Lines & HNW Director

11th April 2019

Covéa Insurance has today announced the appointment of Carolyn Callan as its new Commercial Lines & HNW Director. Her appointment will be with effect from 1st May and is subject to FCA and PRA approval. Carolyn will also join the Executive Committee.

Carolyn joined Covéa in November 2017 as Head of SME & Schemes.  She has many years’ leadership experience in insurance, starting as Marketing Director for the startup business Premierline.  Carolyn then led the launch, development and growth of the commercial division of Swinton as Director of Commercial Insurance.  More recently, she was responsible for business development and marketing strategy for Towergate’s SME and Advisory Broking operation.  She has a track record of successfully growing businesses through building strong, mutually beneficial relationships and maintaining a clear focus on the needs of the end customer.

Carolyn succeeds Simon Cooter who will leave the business in August 2019.  Until then Simon will work with Carolyn to ensure a smooth transition, with a clear focus on ensuring continuity for broker partners, customers and the Covéa team.

Carolyn commented “I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to lead Covéa’s Commercial & High Net Worth team on to the next stage of our evolution.  This is a great business that is built on fantastic people and relationships and that’s something that won’t change.  I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to continue to build on the strong legacy that Simon leaves behind.”

Simon added “I’m really pleased that Carolyn has been appointed to succeed me.  Ever since she joined the business she has had a hugely positive impact, both as part of the team and in her work with our broker partners.  It was really important to me that we had an orderly and positive transition and my priority now is to help Carolyn as she takes over and then to watch from the sidelines as the team prospers.  I’ve loved my 6 years at Covéa and I am as sad to be leaving such a great team as I am excited about the things I do next!”

James Reader also commented “I’m delighted to announce Carolyn’s promotion to Commercial Lines & HNW Director.  We have undertaken an extensive search over the last 6 months and Carolyn’s appointment is recognition of her undoubted leadership abilities and the fantastic impact she’s made on our business in the 17 months she’s been with us.  Our Commercial Lines & HNW business has made great progress under Simon’s leadership and I know that our people and broker partners will welcome Carolyn as she leads the business on to bigger and better things.”
