Covéa Insurance join the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety

23rd June 2015

Covéa Insurance has joined the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS). PACTS is an all-party parliamentary group that advises Parliamentarians and government, drawing on the expertise and knowledge of its member organisations to identify research-based solutions to all areas of transport safety.

Barry Street, Head of Engineers at Covéa Insurance has been appointed member representative and will work closely with PACTS, contributing to discussions on key road safety matters and helping to shape future initiatives that will impact Britain’s roads.

Barry explained:

“Insurers have a key role to play in ensuring the safety of Britain’s roads and it’s important that we engage with organisations like PACTS to share our experience and knowledge. In joining the road safety conversation, we have an opportunity to develop solutions that will help to reduce avoidable road casualties and lobby the government to ensure that legislation on road safety issues is realistic, practical and achievable.”

David Davies, Executive Director of PACTS added:

“We are delighted that Covéa Insurance has joined PACTS. Insurance companies have a strong day-to-day understanding of driver risks and are looking for ways to reduce these risks, particularly for young drivers. The UK is still in a period of public spending restraint and we need to draw on the expertise of the private sector to reduce road safety casualty further. Having Covéa Insurance’s support and Barry Street’s involvement as their member representative will be very valuable.”
